Full Notice | Changes to ceramics firing from Term 4

 

From 11 October, we're introducing a weight-based firing structure in our ceramics studio. Firing is one of the biggest ongoing costs of running the studio, and as a not-for-profit community arts centre, this change helps us keep our kilns running, maintain our equipment and continue offering accessible ceramics programs to our community.

 

Adult Enrolled students:

Your term enrolment includes clay, glazing and firing for up to 5kg of finished work. Work beyond 5kg is charged at $10 per kilogram.

 

Drop-in students, studio hire and Tuesday open studio:

Firing is charged at $10 per kilogram of finished work.External kiln hire: Work made off site is charged at $10 per kilogram, including pieces brought in by enrolled students or studio hirers.

 

How it works

• Pieces are weighed by our studio technician after their final firing, and partial kilograms are charged in 0.5kg increments.

• Student allowances apply per term and don't carry over.

• When submitting work for firing, you'll be asked where your pieces were made and the capacity you're firing in, so each firing is counted correctly.
