Volunteer with Us

There's a lot that goes on behind the scenes. We'd love your help.

Our community is at the heart of everything we do at Gallery Lane Cove + Creative Studios, and we would like to invite you to become part of our growing community of volunteers.

We are currently building our volunteer program and looking for enthusiastic, community-minded people to help our team support the wide range of programs, events, and activities that make this centre such an important part of life in Lane Cove. Whether you are looking to develop new skills, meet like-minded people, or simply give something back, there is a place for you here.

You do not need experience in the arts to get involved. What matters most is a genuine interest in contributing to the cultural life of our community, a willingness to learn, and a commitment to providing a high level of care and service to every person who walks through our doors.

Why volunteer with us?

Our Volunteer roles

Volunteering with Gallery Lane Cove + Creative Studios is a rewarding way to connect with your community and the arts. As a volunteer, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Work alongside a passionate team of arts and community professionals

  • Build practical skills in areas such as customer service, event support, arts administration, or education

  • Meet artists, teachers, and fellow community members who share your interests

  • Gain hands-on experience in a dynamic, multi-program cultural centre

  • Play a meaningful role in making art and creativity accessible to everyone in Lane Cove

We welcome people who can commit to regular shifts, as well as those who prefer to help out on a more occasional or event-by-event basis. We will work with you to find a role and schedule that suits your life.

We offer a range of volunteer opportunities across our gallery, creative studios, events, education programs, and community activities. Read through our current roles below and find the one that suits you.

As a Front Reception Volunteer, you are the friendly face that greets every visitor who walks through our doors. Your role is to provide excellent customer service: welcoming visitors, sharing information about our programs and activities, and responding to in-person, phone, email, and website enquiries. You will also assist with basic administrative tasks, keep the reception area clean and welcoming, and help prepare the gallery to receive visitors. This role suits someone with good communication skills who enjoys engaging with the public and takes pride in creating a positive first impression. - Work alongside a passionate team of arts and community professionals - Build practical skills in areas such as customer service, event support, arts administration, or education - Meet artists, teachers, and fellow community members who share your interests - Gain hands-on experience in a dynamic, multi-program cultural centre - Play a meaningful role in making art and creativity accessible to everyone in Lane Cove We welcome people who can commit to regular shifts, as well as those who prefer to help out on a more occasional or event-by-event basis. Event Support Volunteer

As an Event Support Volunteer, you will help our team prepare for events at the centre. Depending on your availability and abilities, this can include setting up chairs, tables, and outdoor umbrellas, and preparing catering such as arranging glasses and assembling finger food trays. If you have additional skills or interests, your role can extend to helping set up P.A. equipment, lighting, cables, and event decorations, or assisting as wait staff during functions. This is a great role for someone who enjoys hands-on, team-focused work and gets satisfaction from seeing an event come together.

Exhibition Installation Support Volunteer

As an Exhibition Installation Support Volunteer, you will work alongside our team to help bring new exhibitions to life. Depending on your skills and experience, this may include helping move artworks safely, assisting with the basic installation of works, and tidying up and returning equipment to storerooms once an installation is complete. Whether you have a background in the arts or simply enjoy careful, physical work, this role offers a behind-the-scenes look at how our exhibitions come together.

Children's School Holiday Activities Volunteer

As a Children's School Holiday Activities Volunteer, you will support our team in delivering engaging and enjoyable holiday programs for young participants. Your role may include helping with participant registrations, supervising children during lunchtime, and providing before and after workshop care. Depending on your skills and interests, this can extend to supporting teachers during class time and helping to create the warm, friendly, fun, and engaging environment that our holiday programs are known for. Please note: all volunteers working with children in this role are required to hold a valid Working With Children Check (WWCC) prior to commencing. A WWCC is free for volunteers and can be applied for through the NSW Office of the Children's Guardian at ocg.nsw.gov.au.

Children's Term Classes Teacher's Support Volunteer

As a Children's Term Classes Teacher's Support Volunteer, you will work alongside our teaching staff during class time to help create a positive and nurturing learning environment. Your role is to support teachers, assist participants with simple tasks, and contribute to the warm, friendly, fun, and engaging atmosphere that our classes are known for. This is a rewarding role for someone who enjoys working with children and wants to support young learners in a creative setting. Please note: to maintain a focused and consistent learning environment for all children, family members of currently enrolled students (including parents and grandparents) are asked to volunteer in other roles at the centre rather than within their own child's class. We are happy to discuss alternative volunteer opportunities with you. All volunteers working with children in this role are also required to hold a valid Working With Children Check (WWCC) prior to commencing. A WWCC is free for volunteers and can be applied for at ocg.nsw.gov.au.

Community Event / Activity Support Volunteer

As a Community Event/Activity Support Volunteer, you will help us prepare for events both at the centre and out in the wider Lane Cove community. Tasks may include setting up chairs, tables, outdoor umbrellas, marquees, and art materials to ensure everything is ready before participants and guests arrive. Depending on your skills and interests, this role can extend to helping set up P.A. equipment, lighting, cables, and other event equipment and decorations. If you enjoy being active, working as part of a team, and seeing the direct impact of your contribution, this is the role for you.
