This exhibition probes the concept of identity in a digital age and the  narrative of the Self  in these historic times of the Covid-19 pandemic. Staged on Instagram, it purposefully juxtaposes Self-portrait with a key platform of Selfies, digitally generated and digitized images and brings to the fore the intrinsic qualities of what could arguably be the defining artist genre of our time. While Selfies are sometimes equated with Self-portraits, the defining feature of the latter is that it expresses the inner world of the individual rather than an aesthetic exercise conveying the artists’ external appearance. The focus on the inner landscape weaves a narrative of a range of self-reflections --  assertions and adjustments of the self as an individual and the self as an artist in response to current unprecedented challenges.
