2021 LLOYD REES MEMORIAL

YOUTH ART AWARDS

6 November - 4 December 2021

The biennial Lloyd Rees Memorial Youth Art Award is a national prize established in 1981 to promote and support talented young emerging artists in Australia initiated by the Lane Cove community in honour of its long-term resident Dr Lloyd Rees. The 2021 finalists’ exhibition features artworks from 32 artists in painting, drawing and printmaking. The main acquisitive prize is proudly sponsored by Lane Cove Council with secondary prizes from Lane Cove Art Society and Gallery Lane Cove.

Evan Pank

Attachment/Detachment is an exhibition that portrays the experiences of Evan Pank, navigating military service in Estonia during the global COVID-19 pandemic and the separation to his country of birth through the strict border controls of the Australian and state governments.

 

Evan Pank was the 2019 Lloyd Rees Memorial Youth Art Awards Winner.

50 Years of Inky Fingers

PRINT CIRCLE

Celebrating 50 years of the Print Circle, a group of women printmakers established in 1970. The exhibition shows work shown with the group during the last 50 years by current and past members. The group had a reputation for experimental printmaking from the beginning, and this continues today.

 

                                         

Of Man and Nature: The Diverse Journey of Guy Warren 

29 April – 29 May 2021

Of Man and Nature captures Guy's spirit of stylistic experimentation which sets him apart from his peers. While it traces varieties of mark-making through the decades,  the recurring theme of man’s place in the natural environment and related motifs persist.

This exhibition is proudly sponsored by Lane Cove Council with support from the Rotary Club of Lane Cove and Hazel McNamara, Senior Sales Agent, Raine and Horne Lane Cove.
