9 Week Term
This is an introduction to watercolour, learn about background effects, brushstrokes and washes and discover the surprising effects possible with inks and watercolour. Using your own watercolours, you will learn how colour works and how to mix exactly the right colour in whatever media you use, with the minimum number of paints. A highly recommended course with a well regarded, very experienced watercolour teacher who can impart foundational and intermediate techniques to her students.

Josefia is a figure/portrait/landscape painter in oils and watercolour, and she teaches watercolour workshops. In the early 1990s her first workshop at the Mitchell School of Creative Arts, was instrumental in her decision to pursue a new career in art. After a period of full-time work and part-time study, she enrolled full-time at the Julian Ashton Art School in 1996. In 1997 she was awarded the Thea Proctor Scholarship and completed a Diploma of Fine Art in 1999.
Her passion include painting watercolour landscape, portraiture and figurative work in oils.She chooses every aspect of the painting, creating her own settings, moods and colours to suit the particular story/scene she has in mind.
She has won over 45 prizes and awards in oils and watercolour including, the most recent awards:
Highly Commended – 2012 Blacktown City Art Prize
Highly Commended – 2013 Hunters Hill Art Prize
First Prize in Miniature – 2013 Sydney Royal Arts and Crafts Show
As well as annual participation in the Julian Ashton Art School Students and Teachers Exhibitons and the Australian Watercolour Institute’s exhibitions,she has exhibited in:
- The Australian Watercolour Institute’s Grand Festival of Asian Watercolor Painting, Busan Biennale, Korea in 2008 and 2010
- The IX Watercolor International Biennial, Mexico in 2010-2011
- Tradition and Transformation: Taiwan-Australia Watercolour Exhibition, Taichung City, Taiwan in 2012.
