Gallery Lane Cove + Creative Studios
Residency Program for Aboriginal Artists
Gallery Lane Cove + Creative Studios is currently inviting Aboriginal artists to apply for a 3-month residency program. This short-term opportunity supported by Lane Cove Council, is open to all NSW Aboriginal artists and includes three-months exclusive access to a 12.4 square metre residency space from May-July 2021 to research and develop new work as well as a solo exhibition at Gallery Lane Cove from 30th June-24th July 2021. This program is a partnership between Lane Cove Council and Gallery Lane Cove + Creative Studios to commemorate Reconciliation Week and NAIDOC Week.
Applications are invited from all NSW Aboriginal artists working in any medium, in particular emerging artists. Applicants will be required to outline their personal objective for the residency and the concept of the proposed exhibition. Applications will be assessed by a panel of three persons:- the manager and curator of Gallery Lane Cove + Creative Studios, the cultural programs coordinator of Lane Cove Council and an invited external Aboriginal assessor (a senior Aboriginal artist/curator).
SCHEDULE & COMMITMENTS:

This is to be presented alongside existing works with a public program of an artist talk or panel as well as a subsidised workshop held at the Studios. The last month of the residency will be spent on community engagement, developing and presenting a short workshop as well as hosting an open studio tour.
The artist-in-residence will have access to all the facilities of the studios, including screenprinting/printmaking, ceramics, painting and sewing equipment. A $1,000 fee will be provided as well as a workshop facilitation fee of $300. Exclusions: Art-making materials; living space.
