titled: Shelter Domestics Application

Part 3 of our suite of online exhibitions responding to Covid-19, Shelter Domestics is an online exhibition that examines the current situation of home life where boundaries of the private and public are blurred. It asks questions about the new politics of home as a place of confinement, refuge, work and play and the tensions that arise from these conflicting functions.
Shelter Domestics aims to reimagine and reclaim the domestic space as a contested site of multiple identities.

Gallery Lane Cove invites artists working in a range of mediums, including painting, mixed media, photography, video art and performance art (presented as a video) to submit up to a maximum of two works that respond directly to the exhibition theme.

Works submitted should be current where possible, looking at physical interiors and the experience of “sheltering in place”/ “staying at home” through different lenses. We are interested in works by practising professional artists from Australia, as well as other parts of the world, particularly areas hard-hit by Covid-19 where the lockdown has been very stringent.
