Introduction to Drawing

Beginners and those with some previous experience are encouraged to join this class. You will be taken through different exercises each week where we will cover basics such as perspective, composition, using light sources, tone and contour lines. A highly supportive studio environment where you are encouraged to try new things and will be given personal guidance. Drawing is fun, and practicing basic techniques can be highly rewarding.

Graphite pencil (progresso)
Charcoal sticks (variety)
Black ink
Ink nib
Rubber (kneadable or hard is ok)
Knife or sharpener
Cartridge paper -A2 size or larger (a variety is good)
Drawing is one of the fundamental skills of Visual Art, there is nothing as instant or hands-on as creating your own mark. Come along and develop your awareness of seeing and visually expressing what is in front of you, as you practice the wonderful pursuit of drawing.

Having had an extensive art education (with an honors degree) specialising in painting from SCA, UNSW and Meadowbank college, Abby continues her painting practice, and currently exhibits at Art2muse, Double Bay. Her work is now in the Westpac collection and she was recently selected for the Rick Amor drawing prize. With a strong interest in exploring abstraction and a love of drawing, Abby enjoys sharing her skills, enthusiasm and experience in the classroom
