INTRODUCTION TO WHEEL THROWING
AGE :8 years and up
WHEN: Tuesday 21st January
Where: Joy Warren Ceramic Studios
Have you ever wanted to have a go at the pottery wheel?
Well, this is your chance! The wheel is a fascinating process which is not short of challenges, but if you are keen to try it out come and join me in this introductory class where we learn what is kneading and centering for then making a small bowl.
Throwing requires another process called turning, which is normally done once the pieces are at a dryer stage. We might not be able to get to that stage but we will still fire your pieces for you to keep. We will not be applying any colour.
The firing will be done after a few weeks, as ceramics require a slow drying process.
No experience needed
What to bring: Clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty
A snack as we’ll be having a short recess whilst we let the pieces firm up
And lots of enthusiasm
Minimum enrolments are required for all courses. Should a class have to be cancelled due to insufficient enrolments, any student enrolled in that class will be contacted and an alternative class or refund arranged.
FUN ON THE POTTERY WHEEL Tuesday 21st Jan 9.30am -12.30pm
Dress for mess!
Whilst it's fun and exciting, making art can get messy so make sure you are wearing casual and comfortable clothes that are allowed to get a little bit grubby. Fully enclosed shoes MUST be worn at all times in the workshop.
Pack a snack!
Please note that food is not provided for students, so if you think you will get hungry during the class, bring something to eat. A waterbottle is also a good idea!
All art making materials will be provided!
