Learn the traditional craft of hand embroidery with an electronic twist.
Embroidery is open to all kinds of stitching and for Flanagan it is like “drawing with thread”. The emergence of conductive textiles means that circuits can be embroidered and electricity becomes a visual medium.
The aim of this workshop is to introduce participants to traditional and contemporary techniques to embroider with conductive thread and create designs that are circuits.
Tricia will guide you through the basics stitches and materials to construct a small working and wearable circuit. You’ll experiment with a battery, conductive thread, and thermochromatic pigments and learn how to make a textile switch for your embroidery to change state from white to colour.
