This class is for students who are interested in learning where to start, and how to develop, a landscape painting. Each class will introduce a different set of painting techniques and styles to explore how the mood of a painting can change; and how a variety of landscapes can be interpreted. During the term’s classes we will look at the styles and painting techniques used by William Robinson, Paul Cezanne, Elizabeth Cummings, David Hockney and Georgia O’Keefe to develop strong colours and imaginative compositions. The class will offer friendly and enthusiastic guidance for all students to create a socially engaging and active class environment. By the final lesson each student will have the skills and the help required to create a self-directed artwork.

  • Since completing a Bachelor of Fine Art with Honours in Sculpture at the National Art School in 2011, I have continued my artist practice and I have developed a career as an art teacher. I worked for a term as an Artist in Residence at Ascham School and I currently teach at the Lane Cove Art Centre. I have also contributed to the Sculpture by the Sea education programme. At Lane Cove Gallery I have directed painting, drawing and sculpture classes for children aged 7-12 and painting classes for adults since October 2018. In 2011, 2014 and 2018 I was selected as a finalist for Sculpture by the Sea, Bondi and in my first year I was awarded the Clitheroe Foundation Scholarship. I have had group and solo exhibitions throughout Sydney and Newcastle including at the Defiance Gallery, Maunsell Wickes Gallery, Incinerator Art Space, Workshop Art Centre and the Newcastle Regional Art Gallery. In 2019 I was selected to participate in the Shagyuan Museum, Artist in Residency Program, Beijing. For 2020 I am working towards exhibiting new public art projects in Sydney.
