CONTEMPORARY PAINTING PRACTICES: DEVELOPING YOUR VOICE,

adults, advanced beginner +

Fridays 10am - 12:30pm

Starts 30th April

$260 per person 9 week term

Course description

In this course you will be encouraged to think about your painting practice in terms of ideas and concepts, as well as embrace the imperfections of process. Expanding your skills in composition, colour, form and mark-making, you’ll continue to develop your own personal aesthetic.

With an emphasis on progressing your own personal projects you’ll receive personalised guidance and support in pushing your work into new areas. Creative exercises will be offered that will help you see other ways of working and conquer creative blocks.

We’ll look at the painting concepts and techniques of various artists working today. Relevant videos will be played and discussed during class, and resource sheets will be provided.

Format of delivery

Students may work on one or two projects for the entire term, or participate in exploratory exercises and experimentation, or a combination of both. The course is intended to provide a space for the development of each participant’s individual vision and goals, and guidance will be provided both individually and collectively.
